HBA Names Woman of the Year

Posted on February 19th, 2008 by Joanna Breitstein

Charlotte SibleyThis just in: The Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) just announced its Woman of the Year. (Better known as WOTY, for those in the inner circle.)

At this year’s luncheon, held on May 8 at the New York Hilton, HBA will hand the WOTY honor to Charlotte Sibley, senior vice president, leadership development for Shire. This luncheon is typically a sold-out event and is the place to be, particularly for upwardly mobile women in the industry.

When Pharm Exec contacted Sibley, she said she was thrilled to be chosen. “I could hardly believe it,” says Sibley. “I feel so honored and happy about it.”

Those who know Sibley will agree she is a worthy choice. She joined Shire in 2005 to head its global business research and intelligence division. After just three years in that position, she was tapped to help create the company’s leadership development unit. This is an important position given the necessity of managing talent to fuel Shire’s rapid growth.
