AZ's David Snow Questions the Value of Education

Posted on January 9th, 2008 by Joanna Breitstein

Aren’t Pharm Exec readers lucky? Right now, we’re working on a report for our February issue that draws on a discussion by high-ranking sales executives in the industry. I don’t want to give away too much, but we put together an expert panel about the changing sales model, and there were more than a few surprises….

We thought we would just pique your interest with a comment from David Snow, vice president of commercialization at AstraZeneca, whose comment heralds a new age for physician education. He says:

“We’re contending with the value of educational programs for doctors. How do you combine education and promotion? We can still do peer-to-peer programs, but they’re less valuable today than they’ve ever been. It’s really hard to get the right audience there—and to have something that’s really interesting for them.”

For more on pharma’s next sales model, check back in a few weeks, when we’ll post the full transcript.
